We attended a ballet yesterday for Sleeping Beauty and were SO excited when we discovered that the ballerina we had Skyped with (back in Dec.) was performing in the ballet!  The kids and I were thrilled to get to meet her and see her perform.

February: African-American History Month

We have been doing read alouds for African-American History Month and the students are really enjoying it!  We have studied 2 different time periods in American History with a unit on Slavery and now we are doing a unit on the Civil Rights Movement.  The students are so amazed to learn how people were treated in our own country and I think the words of Mathew- "that's just MEAN!" pretty much sums up how we feel!  They are learning the power and importance of being and having good leaders!

This week we are reading Ruby Bridges as we compare a story told by two different authors on the same topic.

100th Day Celebration

We have finally reached the 100th day of school!!!  Our annual celebration of baking 100 chocolate chip cookies was great fun!  We had some cutely designed shirts to celebrate the occasion as well!
