Bats Incredible!

We introduce our Bats Incredible Unit with the adorable story, Stellaluna!    We will be learning all about these incredible animals as well as SKYPING with a bat specialist on Friday!

Alexander and the Terrible......

We enjoyed reading the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day last week and then seeing the movie this week to compare and contrast the movie with the book.

We predicted that there would be some differences as the movie was longer than the picture book so we knew some things would be added to the movie for effect.  We found over 10 differences when we listed them on our chart!   The movie was very funny and we enjoyed our trip a lot!  We want to thank Bakery on Main and Artsy Tartsy for having treats ready for us when we toured the bakeries to help us with the compare/contrast concept in a real world visit!  It was very SWEET of them to host our tours and a nice surprise!  This also helped us add to our CAREER education as both businesses shared a little about how the owners got the business started and the job opportunities they each provide.

Inventing a new room for Charlie's Chocolate Factory!

Red group readers created a treat for the class today as part of an activity to invent a new room for the factory with the literature book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  The class gave it a thumbs up!  And as a marketing field test--it passed their approval!  Great job!
