Skippy Jon Jones fun

We are really enjoying the rhythmic fun of Skippy Jon Jones for an author study read aloud this month!  These stories allow us to compare and contrast characters, settings, plot and theme of stories by the same author.  We especially enjoy singing and clapping along with El Skippito using our very best Spanish accents and singing in a muy, muy, soft voice!  Oh how we adore Skippy Jon Jones!!  You should read them, dude!

New Year--New Reads!!

We are back from Christmas break and ready for new reading material!!!  Our next author study is Jeff Kinney who has a very enjoyable and funny series with Diary of a Wimpy Kid!!  The students are all set with new GOALS and we jump right back into our Reader's Notebooks work!  This story uses a lot of IDIOMS and the students will be INFERRING their meaning.  We will also use graphic organizers to help us determine IMPORTANCE of details as we select MAIN IDEAS for each chapter to help us RETELL events.
